Bitcoin’s price continues to oscillate sharply as global risk sentiment remains fragile, influenced by shifting monetary expectations and uneven institutional participation. After a brief rally driven by optimism around digital asset adoption, the cryptocurrency has struggled to hold momentum, reflecting broader caution across financial markets. Investors are closely watching central bank signals, liquidity conditions, and fund inflows to determine Bitcoin’s near-term trajectory.

Kotak Mahindra Bank Unveils 5-for-1 Stock Split to Broaden Investor Reach

Kotak Mahindra Bank has approved a 5-for-1 stock split, marking a strategic step toward enhancing liquidity and making its shares more accessible to retail investors. Under the plan, each equity share with a face value of Rs. 5 will be subdivided into five shares of Re. 1 each. The move reflects the bank’s intention to widen participation in its shareholder base, particularly after a period of steady market performance. While the split does not alter the bank’s overall valuation, it reduces the price per share and potentially boosts trading volumes.

Global Rate-Cut Uncertainty Pulls Sensex Lower by Over 400 Points

Indian equity benchmarks retreated sharply on Friday as waning expectations of near-term global rate cuts prompted investors to lock in profits after a recent market rebound. The Sensex slid more than 400 points, while the Nifty also closed lower, reflecting heightened caution driven by stronger-than-expected U.S. economic data that could delay monetary easing by the Federal Reserve. Weak global cues, broad-based selling and persistent volatility in mid- and small-cap stocks contributed to the decline.

SEBI Restricts Mutual Fund Pre-IPO Investments, Expands Scope for Anchor Participation

India’s capital markets regulator, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), has introduced significant changes to the way mutual funds can participate in companies preparing to go public. Mutual fund schemes are now barred from investing in pre-IPO placements, a move aimed at reducing liquidity risks and ensuring schemes hold only securities that are listed or slated for listing. While curbing this route, SEBI has simultaneously expanded the anchor investor framework, broadening institutional participation and raising the anchor allocation limit.
