The certification validates Akasa Air’s adherence to rigorous protocols in areas such as operational management, maintenance, and safety procedures. Aviation analysts note that IOSA registration enhances credibility, strengthens investor and passenger confidence, and positions the airline competitively within India’s growing aviation sector.

Akasa Air has announced the launch of direct flights between Mumbai and Phuket, Thailand, beginning September 20, as part of its strategic international expansion. The new service aims to tap into the growing demand for short-haul leisure travel among Indian passengers, supported by increasing tourism flows to Southeast Asia. By introducing this route, Akasa Air seeks to strengthen its presence in the international segment while leveraging Mumbai’s position as a major travel hub.

Akasa Air has entered a strategic, three-year partnership with GMR Aero Technic to perform base maintenance on its fleet of 30 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft at the MRO facility in Hyderabad. This deal ensures enhanced operational efficiency, reliability, and safety for Akasa’s expanding network, which now spans 23 domestic and 5 international routes.

In a remarkably short span of just 31 months since its inception in August 2022, Akasa Air has not only established a firm presence in India’s competitive aviation sector but has also made significant strides in international markets. With over 150 daily flights and more than 17 million revenue passengers flown, the airline's aggressive yet disciplined expansion strategy reflects its growing market share, customer trust, and operational resilience.

Starting Tuesday, April 15, IndiGo and Akasa Air will shift their domestic operations to Terminal 1 (T1) at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) from Terminal 2 (T2), which will undergo temporary closure for maintenance. This strategic move follows the airport's expansion of T1 to accommodate a higher volume of passengers. With significant upgrades, including improved baggage handling and additional check-in counters, the revamped terminal is set to offer enhanced operational efficiency and a better passenger experience.
