The Allahabad High Court has dismissed a petition filed against the upcoming Bollywood film Jolly LLB 3, clearing the way for its release. The petitioner had argued that the movie could allegedly misrepresent judicial institutions and erode public confidence in the legal system. However, the court held that creative works, including cinema, are protected under the right to freedom of expression, provided they do not cross boundaries set by law. In a rare instance of intra-judiciary friction, 13 senior judges from the Allahabad High Court have reportedly expressed dissent against implementing a recent directive issued by the Supreme Court of India.
