The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is currently facing one of its most severe cholera outbreaks in recent history. As of mid-October 2025, the Ministry of Health reports over 58,000 suspected cases and more than 1,700 deaths across 20 of the country's 26 provinces. The epidemic has been exacerbated by ongoing conflicts, inadequate sanitation infrastructure, and limited access to healthcare. International organizations, including Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and the World Health Organization (WHO), are intensifying their response efforts.
