GE Aerospace has announced a fresh investment of $14 million (approximately Rs. 124 crore) to expand and modernize its manufacturing facility in Pune, marking a significant step in its long-term India strategy. The capital infusion aims to boost production capacity, deepen automation, and enhance the site’s ability to deliver high-precision components for GE’s global aircraft engine programs. Over the past decade, the Pune facility has evolved into an essential contributor to the company’s worldwide supply chain.

GE Aerospace is intensifying its focus on India as a hub for artificial intelligence (AI)-driven innovation, betting big on the country’s talent pool to advance next-generation aerospace technologies. With rising global demand for efficiency, sustainability, and digital transformation in aviation, the company is channeling resources into expanding its AI research, design, and engineering capabilities in India.

India’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mk-1A is poised to enter active service with the Indian Air Force (IAF) by March 2026, with at least six jets expected to be delivered by then. Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) confirmed that production delays were primarily caused by GE Aerospace’s failure to supply engines on schedule. HAL’s chairman D.K. Sunil disclosed that although the aircraft are ready, only one engine has been received so far.
