Honda Unveils WN7 Electric Motorcycle: A Bold Step into the Future of Two-Wheel Mobility

Honda has introduced the WN7, its first full-sized electric motorcycle, marking a significant milestone in the company's electrification journey. Designed for the European market, the WN7 combines performance, style, and sustainability, offering riders an alternative to traditional internal combustion engine motorcycles. With an estimated range of over 130 km per charge and rapid charging capabilities, the WN7 is poised to appeal to urban commuters and motorcycle enthusiasts alike.

Performance and Specifications

The Honda WN7 is equipped with an 18 kW liquid-cooled electric motor, delivering performance comparable to a 600cc internal combustion engine motorcycle. Despite its electric drivetrain, the WN7 maintains a kerb weight of 217 kg, balancing power and handling. The motorcycle's torque output is designed to provide strong acceleration, making it suitable for both city commuting and highway riding.

Design and Features

Embracing a "naked" streetfighter aesthetic, the WN7 features sharp lines and aggressive styling typical of Honda's CB series. The minimalist tail and muscular side profile enhance its streetfighter appeal. The front fascia boasts a large LED headlamp unit, complemented by LED indicators and taillights, ensuring visibility and modern design.

The motorcycle is equipped with a 5-inch full-color TFT display that integrates with Honda's RoadSync connectivity suite. This system allows riders to pair smartphones, access navigation, check notifications, and view dedicated EV menus such as real-time range and charging status.

Charging Capabilities

The WN7 supports both home and rapid charging options. Using a standard household outlet, riders can expect a full charge in under three hours. For quicker turnarounds, the CCS2 rapid charger can top up the battery from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes, providing flexibility for daily use.

Market Availability and Pricing

Currently, the Honda WN7 is set to enter production later in 2025, with deliveries expected to commence in early 2026. In the UK, the motorcycle is priced at £12,999 on the road. Honda plans to expand availability to other European markets in the future, with potential consideration for other regions based on market demand.

Strategic Significance

The launch of the WN7 underscores Honda's commitment to achieving carbon neutrality across all products and corporate activities by 2050, with the goal of making all motorcycle products carbon-neutral by the 2040s. The WN7 represents the first model in Honda's "Fun segment," blending performance with sustainability to meet the evolving needs of riders.
