Om Freight Forwarders Faces Steep Loss on Market Debut

By Keshav Kulshrestha , 10 October 2025
a

Shares of Om Freight Forwarders Ltd. experienced a significant decline on their market debut on October 8, 2025. The stock opened at ₹81.50 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and ₹82.50 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), marking a 39.6% and 38.9% drop, respectively, from the initial public offering (IPO) price of ₹135 per share. Despite a strong subscription rate of 3.87 times, the listing was below expectations, reflecting investor concerns over valuation and market conditions.

IPO Subscription and Market Expectations

Om Freight Forwarders' IPO, valued at ₹122.31 crore, comprised a fresh issue of shares and an offer for sale by existing shareholders. The issue was subscribed 3.87 times, with significant interest from qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) and non-institutional investors (NIIs). However, the grey market premium (GMP) leading up to the listing indicated a muted debut, suggesting that market participants had tempered expectations.

Post-Listing Performance

On the debut day, the stock's performance was lackluster, closing at ₹85.57 on the NSE and ₹86.60 on the BSE, still approximately 36.6% below the IPO price. The initial decline was followed by a modest recovery, with the stock hitting the 5% upper circuit limit on the BSE. Despite this uptick, the overall performance highlighted a disconnect between pre-issue optimism and post-listing market sentiment.

Investor Sentiment and Market Outlook

Analysts attribute the weak debut to several factors, including concerns over the company's valuation, earnings stability, and operational efficiency. The logistics sector faces challenges such as fluctuating demand and margin pressures, which may have influenced investor confidence. Market participants are advised to monitor the company's quarterly performance closely to assess its ability to deliver consistent growth and operational improvements.

Conclusion

Om Freight Forwarders' disappointing market debut underscores the complexities of investor sentiment and market conditions. While the company has a strong presence in the logistics sector, its ability to navigate market challenges and deliver on growth expectations will be crucial in determining its long-term performance in the public markets.
