Sambhv Steel Tubes has successfully garnered Rs. 161.25 crore from prominent anchor investors, setting the stage for its Rs. 540-crore initial public offering (IPO) opening on June 25. The IPO comprises a fresh issue of Rs. 440 crore and an offer for sale of Rs. 100 crore. With shares priced at Rs. 82—the upper end of its price band—the company allocated over 1.96 crore equity shares to 19 institutional investors. Proceeds from the fresh issue will be used for debt repayment and corporate expansion. Sambhv’s market debut is scheduled for July 2 on both BSE and NSE.

Robust Anchor Investor Backing Bolsters IPO Sentiment

On the eve of its public issue, Sambhv Steel Tubes attracted significant institutional interest by raising Rs. 161.25 crore through its anchor book. The company allotted 1.96 crore equity shares at Rs. 82 per share—marking the upper threshold of its IPO price band of Rs. 77–82.

The anchor round saw participation from a blend of domestic mutual funds and global financial institutions. Key investors included WhiteOak Capital Mutual Fund, Motilal Oswal MF, and Nuvama Asset Management, alongside international heavyweights such as Citigroup Global Markets Mauritius, Nomura Singapore, Societe Generale, and BNP Paribas Financial Markets. Their early commitment reinforces market confidence in Sambhv Steel’s financial fundamentals and growth potential.

IPO Structure: Fresh Capital and Promoter Offloading

The total IPO size stands at Rs. 540 crore, comprising two components—a fresh issuance of equity shares worth Rs. 440 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of Rs. 100 crore by the company’s promoters. While the fresh capital will be deployed toward debt reduction and general corporate needs, the OFS allows promoters to pare down their stake and unlock value.

Public subscription will open on June 25 and close on June 27, with allotment results expected shortly thereafter. The listing is scheduled for July 2, and shares will be traded on both the BSE and NSE.

Market Positioning and Sector Outlook

Sambhv Steel Tubes holds a prominent position in India’s steel manufacturing space as one of the leading producers of electric resistance welded (ERW) steel pipes and structural hollow sections, based on installed capacity as of March 31, 2024.

The company operates in a sector poised for long-term growth, bolstered by robust domestic infrastructure demand. According to a Crisil report, India’s steel pipe and tube demand grew at a CAGR of 5–6% from FY19 to FY25, reaching an estimated 12.50–13.50 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), up from 8.8 MTPA in FY19. This expansion has been largely driven by government-backed urban development programs and capital infusion into oil and gas infrastructure.

Looking ahead, the sector is projected to grow at an accelerated CAGR of 8–9% between FY25 and FY29, with expected demand reaching 18.50–20.50 MTPA. This forward-looking trajectory augurs well for Sambhv Steel’s expansion plans and revenue growth, positioning it to benefit from both private and public sector demand upticks.

Lead Managers and Listing Details

The IPO is being managed by Nuvama Wealth Management and Motilal Oswal Investment Advisors, both serving as book-running lead managers. Their involvement lends further credibility to the offering, given their track record in handling successful capital market transactions.

With an expected listing on July 2, investor attention will be closely focused on the company’s market debut and subsequent price movement, particularly in a climate where industrial and infrastructure-linked stocks are drawing renewed investor interest.

Conclusion

Sambhv Steel Tubes’ IPO arrives at a critical juncture in India's infrastructure growth cycle. With solid anchor backing, a competitive market position, and favorable sector tailwinds, the company is well-placed to leverage public capital for operational scaling and balance sheet strengthening. The strong anchor response not only underscores institutional confidence but also sets a positive tone for broader investor participation in the days ahead.
