The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has named senior bureaucrat Akash Tripathi as its new managing director, marking a pivotal leadership change at a time when India is accelerating its transition toward clean energy. The Indian government has abruptly terminated the services of Rameshwar Prasad Gupta as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd (SECI), effective May 10. Gupta, who had been appointed to a two-year term just a year ago, was dismissed without any official explanation from the government. This sudden move raises questions regarding the leadership stability at SECI, a key player in India’s renewable energy sector. Gupta’s departure leaves a significant void in the corporation, which plays a crucial role in the country’s solar energy expansion.
