Diplomatic Shockwave: U.S. Revokes Harvard’s Right to Enroll Foreign Students, Leaves Brief Reprieve

In an unprecedented move, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has revoked Harvard University’s authorization to enroll international students under the F-1 and J-1 visa programs, placing the academic futures of over 6,800 students in jeopardy. Among them, nearly 800 are Indian nationals. The decision, rooted in concerns over campus safety and ongoing political tensions surrounding allegations of antisemitism, has left Harvard with a narrow 72-hour window to comply with six rigorous conditions to regain its Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) certification.
