MRPL’s Profit Plunge Despite Record Crude Processing Reflects Pressures on Refining Margins

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL), a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), reported a sharp 68% decline in its net profit for Q4 of FY2024–25, primarily due to a significant contraction in refining margins. Net earnings for the quarter stood at Rs. 363 crore, down from Rs. 1,137 crore in the same period last year.
