India Proposes Relaxing Fuel-Efficiency Norms for Small Cars to Ease Compliance Pressure

India’s Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has proposed easing fuel-efficiency norms for small petrol cars, a move aimed at reducing compliance burdens for manufacturers of compact vehicles. Under the draft rules, cars weighing up to 909 kg, measuring less than 4 m, and with engines under 1,200 cc would receive additional carbon‑savings credits, capped at 9 g CO₂/km per model. The changes are scheduled to take effect from April 2027 and run through 2037. While Maruti Suzuki welcomed the proposal, other automakers, including Tata Motors and Toyota, raised concerns about fairness.

Supreme Court Postpones Hearing on Vodafone Idea's AGR Dues to October 6

The Supreme Court of India has deferred the hearing of Vodafone Idea's plea challenging the Department of Telecommunications' (DoT) demand for an additional ₹9,450 crore in Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues.
