A colossal data breach involving 16 billion digital credentials has prompted India’s cybersecurity agency, CERT-In, to issue an urgent nationwide advisory. The leaked trove—reportedly sourced from major platforms including Apple, Google, Facebook, Telegram, and GitHub—contains usernames, passwords, authentication tokens, and metadata. While some of the data may be outdated, the scale and decentralization of the breach pose grave risks of phishing, ransomware, and account takeovers.
