Delhi Airport Ranks Among Asia-Pacific’s Top 10 Transit Hubs in Global Connectivity Index

Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has been recognized among the top 10 hub airports across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, according to the 2024 Air Connectivity Ranking released by Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific & Middle East. The airport secured the tenth spot on the list, underscoring its growing stature as a critical international transit point. The ranking, which evaluates airports based on their hub connectivity capabilities, comes amid a broader regional recovery in air travel, with a 14% year-on-year increase in connectivity.

DIAL Divests Entire Stake in Aviation Services JV to Bird Group for Rs. 12.79 Crore

Delhi International Airport Ltd. (DIAL), a GMR Group entity, has sold its entire 50 percent stake in Delhi Aviation Services Pvt. Ltd. (DASPL) to Bird Flight Services (India) Pvt. Ltd. for Rs. 12.79 crore. The move marks a complete exit by DIAL from DASPL, a joint venture previously responsible for managing key ground support infrastructure at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). With this acquisition, Bird Flight Services, which earlier held a minority stake in DASPL, now holds a controlling interest.

Delhi Airport Gears Up for Critical Runway Upgrades to Minimize Fog-Season Disruptions

Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), operated by Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), is undergoing significant runway upgrades aimed at ensuring zero disruptions during the fog season. Specifically, maintenance work is being carried out on runway RW 10/28 to meet CAT III operational standards, allowing for flight operations even in low-visibility conditions. The project is expected to be completed ahead of schedule, by September, ensuring that the airport will be fully operational during the winter months when dense fog typically causes disruptions.
