Bengaluru-based space-tech start-up GalaxEye has announced plans for its second satellite, designed to offer sharper Earth imagery and faster revisit times. Building on the momentum of its upcoming Mission Drishti satellite, set for launch later this year, GalaxEye is developing the next-generation Drishti satellite entirely in-house. With 0.5-metre resolution and cutting-edge SAR-optical imaging technology, this satellite aims to cater to defence, security, and intelligence sectors while supporting disaster response and maritime surveillance. GalaxEye’s ambitious expansion includes targeting global defence markets in the United States, West Asia, and Europe, positioning itself as a rising player in the space industry.
Pioneering High-Resolution Earth Imaging
GalaxEye’s second satellite, currently undergoing mission concept and preliminary design reviews, is projected for launch between late 2026 and early 2027. The satellite will deliver significantly improved imaging capabilities, with 0.5-metre spatial resolution and revisit intervals of less than three days. This leap forward is expected to provide enhanced analytical intelligence, meeting the growing demand for high-precision, persistent Earth observation from government and private sector clients alike.
The satellite’s proprietary Syncfusion SAR-optical sensor stack—developed entirely in-house—combines synthetic aperture radar and optical imaging, promising richer, all-weather insights. According to GalaxEye, this technology has already been validated through more than 500 aerial test flights, in addition to the success of its earlier POEM payload.
Strengthening National and Global Security Capabilities
GalaxEye’s innovations are positioned squarely at the intersection of technology and security. The second Drishti satellite is being designed to serve mission-critical applications, providing near-real-time data for national defence, intelligence, and security agencies. Beyond defence, the satellite will support disaster response, urban monitoring, maritime domain awareness, and risk intelligence—areas where timely, high-quality imagery can play a decisive role in operational outcomes.
Founder and CEO Suyash Singh emphasized the significance of this development, stating that the satellite represents a “significant leap” in delivering actionable intelligence through faster, sharper, and more persistent Earth observation.
Global Ambitions for a Homegrown Solution
With the success of its first satellite (Mission Drishti, offering 1.25-metre resolution and slated for launch later in 2025), GalaxEye is setting its sights on global expansion. The company’s roadmap includes entry into high-priority international markets, with a focus on the United States, West Asia, and Europe—regions where demand for advanced surveillance and intelligence capabilities continues to rise.
By anchoring its technology development within India and targeting high-value global clients, GalaxEye aims to position itself as a credible alternative to established players in the commercial Earth observation sector. The company’s end-to-end in-house engineering and proprietary signal processing toolchain offer it both technological and strategic advantages in this highly competitive domain.
