Essar Group’s GreenLine Mobility Solutions has partnered with Shriram Finance to deploy a fleet of LNG-powered trucks, signaling a significant step in India’s transition to sustainable logistics. This expansion aligns with GreenLine’s ambitious plan to deploy over 10,000 LNG and electric trucks, supported by a nationwide infrastructure network. The move aims to reduce carbon emissions by up to 1 million tonnes annually, supporting India’s broader decarbonization goals. With over 650 LNG trucks already in operation, GreenLine is positioning itself as a leader in the green logistics sector, catering to a wide range of industries.

GreenLine Mobility: Pioneering Sustainable Logistics in India

GreenLine Mobility Solutions, an Essar Group venture, is spearheading India's green logistics movement by offering innovative LNG and electric-powered heavy commercial trucks. This week, the company marked a significant milestone by flagging off a new fleet of LNG-powered trucks in Chakan, Pune, in collaboration with Shriram Finance, one of India’s largest non-banking financial companies (NBFCs).

GreenLine’s current fleet of over 650 LNG trucks already serves leading companies across a wide range of sectors including fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), e-commerce, metals and mining, cement, oil and gas, and chemicals. This latest fleet expansion strengthens the company’s role as the only green logistics operator in India offering LNG and electric-powered commercial vehicles.

Strategic Partnership with Shriram Finance

The deployment of the new fleet is made possible through GreenLine’s strategic partnership with Shriram Finance, which provides critical financial backing for this expansion. Shriram Finance’s involvement is seen as a key enabler of GreenLine’s growth strategy, allowing the company to enhance its fleet of LNG trucks while simultaneously addressing India’s urgent need for cleaner transportation solutions.

In a statement, Anand Mimani, CEO of GreenLine Mobility Solutions, emphasized that the fleet expansion is a crucial step in transforming India's logistics sector. "This expansion, supported by Shriram Finance, is a key step towards transforming India’s logistics with sustainable, high-performance solutions," Mimani said.

GreenLine’s Vision for a Sustainable Future

GreenLine’s mission goes beyond simply growing its fleet. The company is committed to addressing the environmental challenges posed by India’s transportation sector, which contributes nearly 15 percent of the nation’s total carbon emissions. By deploying LNG and electric trucks, GreenLine aims to provide an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional diesel-powered vehicles, significantly reducing the sector's carbon footprint.

To further its commitment to sustainability, GreenLine plans to deploy over 10,000 LNG and electric trucks across the country. This fleet expansion will be supported by a comprehensive infrastructure network of 100 LNG refuelling stations, electric vehicle charging stations, and battery swapping facilities nationwide. This infrastructure will be crucial in ensuring the success and widespread adoption of GreenLine’s green logistics solutions.

Environmental and Economic Impact

GreenLine’s efforts are aligned with India’s broader decarbonization goals, which aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transition to a more sustainable economy. The company projects that its LNG and EV truck fleet could help reduce carbon emissions by as much as 1 million tonnes annually—a significant contribution to the country’s environmental sustainability targets.

Sharvari Prabhu, CFO of GreenLine Mobility Solutions, emphasized the importance of financial support in scaling the company’s LNG fleet. “As we scale our LNG fleet, the role of strategic financial support becomes increasingly critical. Shriram Finance’s involvement helps us offer viable green alternatives to conventional trucking while supporting India’s broader decarbonization goals,” Prabhu noted.

GreenLine’s Role in India’s Green Logistics Ecosystem

GreenLine’s entry into the green logistics market represents a transformative shift in India’s freight transportation sector. By integrating advanced technologies like LNG and electric vehicles into its fleet, GreenLine is helping to set the standard for sustainability in logistics. Its broad portfolio of services is designed to meet the needs of industries that rely on efficient and environmentally conscious transportation solutions.

With its commitment to reducing emissions and building a robust infrastructure for green logistics, GreenLine is well-positioned to continue its growth as a leader in India’s evolving sustainable transportation landscape.

Looking Ahead: A Sustainable Logistics Future

As GreenLine Mobility Solutions continues to scale its operations, the company’s emphasis on green logistics and sustainability will likely play a pivotal role in shaping the future of India’s transportation sector. With continued financial backing from key partners like Shriram Finance and the expansion of its fleet and infrastructure, GreenLine is setting a new benchmark for what is possible in the logistics industry.

By combining innovative technologies, strategic partnerships, and a commitment to environmental responsibility, GreenLine is not only driving business growth but also contributing meaningfully to India’s decarbonization efforts, making it a key player in the nation’s push toward sustainability.
