Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the much-anticipated Yellow Line of Bengaluru’s Namma Metro on August 10. Spanning 19.15 kilometers and connecting R.V. In a bid to improve transparency, efficiency, and user experience, Indian Railways has announced two major reforms: the advance preparation of reservation charts and the rollout of a modernized Passenger Reservation System (PRS). Effective July 1, reservation charts will be finalized eight hours before a train's scheduled departure, replacing the current four-hour window. Additionally, by December, a new, scalable PRS—designed to handle a tenfold increase in load—will go live. These changes aim to ease uncertainty for travelers, reduce booking delays, and enhance accessibility.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) reported a strong financial performance for the March 2025 quarter, posting a 26.06% year-on-year increase in net profit, which rose to Rs. 358.23 crore. The company’s revenue climbed 9.85% to Rs. 1,268.53 crore during the same period. For the full financial year, IRCTC recorded a net profit of Rs. 1,314.90 crore, up 18.34% over the previous year, supported by a nearly 10% growth in annual revenue.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing the ambitious SilverLine railway project despite facing political opposition from the central government and various parties. The proposed 529.45-kilometer semi-high-speed rail corridor aims to drastically cut travel time between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod, reshaping the state’s transport landscape. Though the project is currently shelved due to lack of approval from New Delhi, Vijayan emphasized that the initiative will eventually materialize.
