Tripura’s tea industry is gaining renewed momentum, positioning itself as a meaningful contributor to the state’s economic growth and employment generation. Once overshadowed by larger tea-producing regions, Tripura has steadily expanded cultivation, improved quality standards, and strengthened market linkages. The sector now supports thousands of livelihoods, particularly in rural and tribal areas, while attracting fresh investment in processing and branding.

:Tripura Chief Minister has called for an increase in the project ceiling for state-backed initiatives, aiming to accelerate investment inflows and catalyze infrastructure development. The proposal seeks to enhance financial flexibility for projects across sectors, allowing for larger-scale undertakings that can boost economic growth and employment. By raising the limit, the state government intends to attract private investment while ensuring strategic oversight of public expenditure.

In a bid to transform its natural assets into a thriving tourism sector, Tripura has announced a strategic expansion of its eco parks to draw both domestic and international visitors. The initiative is part of the state’s broader vision to strengthen sustainable development while conserving biodiversity and supporting rural livelihoods. With new infrastructure, improved connectivity, and eco-friendly activities, the state government aims to position Tripura as a leading destination for nature-based tourism in the Northeast.

In a significant enforcement action aimed at recouping public funds, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) will auction 30 properties belonging to the Rose Valley Group on June 27, with a total reserve price set at Rs 409.02 crore. The assets, spread across multiple states including West Bengal, Bihar, Tripura, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, include hotels, resorts, flats, and land parcels. This initiative follows a 2015 Calcutta High Court directive and is part of SEBI’s broader crackdown on illicit collective investment schemes.

Tripura is making significant strides towards its renewable energy goals, setting an ambitious target to generate 150 MW of solar power by March 2027. With the growing success of the PM Surya Ghar Mufta Bijli Yojana, over 13,500 households have registered for solar power installations, and 266 families have already started producing energy. The initiative is not only helping to reduce electricity bills but is also creating new income streams by allowing households to sell surplus power. In addition, Tripura is exporting electricity to Bangladesh, further strengthening its energy sector.
