Lumax Auto Technologies Ltd. (LATL) is set to acquire the remaining 25 percent equity in IAC International Automotive India Pvt. Ltd. for Rs. 221 crore, consolidating its position as the sole owner of the interior automotive solutions provider. This move marks a strategic milestone for LATL, which initially acquired a 75 percent stake in IAC India in March 2023. Upon completion—expected by May 31, 2025—Lumax plans to explore a potential merger to unlock synergies. Lumax Auto Technologies Ltd. has announced a definitive agreement to acquire the remaining 25 percent stake in IAC International Automotive India Pvt. Ltd., a key player in automotive interior systems. The acquisition, valued at approximately Rs. 221 crore, will result in IAC India becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Lumax.
This development follows LATL’s earlier acquisition of a 75 percent stake in March 2023. By fully integrating IAC India into its operations, Lumax aims to strengthen its strategic direction, improve operational efficiency, and create long-term value across its business verticals.
Unlocking Synergies Through Potential Merger
Upon completion of the transaction, expected by May 31, 2025, LATL indicated its intent to evaluate a potential merger of IAC India with the parent entity, subject to compliance with applicable legal and regulatory norms.
Deepak Jain, Chairman of the Lumax Group, emphasized that the consolidation aligns with the company’s long-term strategic vision. “This transaction will enhance our ability to deliver integrated solutions across lighting, plastics, and interior systems, and increase scalability in line with evolving industry trends,” he said.
He further noted that this consolidation reinforces Lumax's commitment to sustainable mobility, particularly through its growing presence on electric vehicle (EV) platforms of major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), including Mahindra & Mahindra.
Enhancing Capabilities in a Competitive Sector
IAC India operates five manufacturing plants located strategically across India—two in Chakan (Pune), and one each in Manesar, Nashik, and Bangalore. These facilities cater to a diverse portfolio of customers across the automotive spectrum.
In addition to its manufacturing capacity, IAC India boasts a robust engineering center in Pune. This in-house hub comprises a team of 330 engineers and designers with global experience. The center provides comprehensive support in areas such as:
- Product and dimensional engineering
- Programme and tooling development
- Product design and validation
- End-to-end project management
