RBI Reports Private NFC Sales Slow to 5.5% in Q1 FY26

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has reported that private non-food credit (NFC) growth decelerated to 5.5% in the first quarter of FY26, signaling a slowdown in private sector borrowing. The moderation reflects cautious corporate lending, tight liquidity conditions, and subdued investment sentiment. Analysts note that while credit growth remains positive, the slowdown could impact economic expansion and industrial activity if prolonged.
