India’s social protection framework has received global recognition after being awarded the International Social Security Association (ISSA) Award 2025 for Outstanding Achievement in Social Security. The honour acknowledges the country’s remarkable progress in extending formal social protection to 64.3% of its population, compared to just 19% a decade ago.
