Clean-tech recycling and materials firm Lohum has inaugurated India’s first rare earth magnet manufacturing plant in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, marking a major step toward building domestic capacity in critical minerals and clean-energy components. The new facility aims to reduce India’s import dependence on magnets essential for electric vehicles (EVs), wind turbines, and electronics, while strengthening the country’s position in the global energy transition.

The initiative focuses on the solar energy sector, with a goal to train 10,000 'Paryavaran Sakhis' and create sustainable livelihood opportunities. As part of this initiative, various solar energy projects, including solar product manufacturing and decentralized systems, have been introduced, creating new economic pathways for women entrepreneurs.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the state's officials to further refine its industrial ecosystem by engaging sector experts and enhancing the efficiency of the "Invest UP" initiative. In a review meeting, Adityanath emphasized the need for a seamless single-window approval system and the introduction of new policies that cater to Uttar Pradesh's growing industrial needs.
