NCLAT Orders Redaction of Confidential Google Revenue Data in Landmark Antitrust Ruling

In a significant development in the ongoing antitrust proceedings against Google, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has directed the removal of sensitive revenue-related information from its March 28 ruling. The redacted content, originally included in Paragraphs 97 to 100, was extracted from a confidential letter submitted by Google during investigations by the Competition Commission of India (CCI). While upholding CCI’s finding that Google’s Play Store billing policy was anti-competitive, NCLAT revised the penalty from Rs. 936.44 crore to Rs. 216.69 crore.
