The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has imposed penalties totaling nearly Rs 2.7 crore on UFO Moviez India, its subsidiary Scrabble Digital, and Qube Cinema Technologies for anti-competitive conduct in the digital cinema equipment leasing market. The companies were found to have imposed unfair restrictions on cinema theater owners (CTOs), limiting their ability to source content and post-production services from third parties. As part of the ruling, the companies were directed to modify their existing agreements and refrain from restricting CTOs' content supply options.
