India's March Trade Data: Exports Grow Slightly, but Trade Deficit Widens

India's export performance in March showed a marginal improvement, with a 0.7% increase in exports to USD 41.97 billion, according to the latest government data. However, this positive growth was offset by a significant rise in imports, which surged by 11.3% year-on-year, reaching USD 63.51 billion. As a result, the trade deficit for March widened to USD 21.54 billion. Despite this, the overall exports for the fiscal year 2024-25 showed slight growth, though imports increased at a faster pace, resulting in a higher trade imbalance.
